Introduction

Who We Are? 

The Human Welfare & Public Service Development Organization (HWPSDO) is an independent, non-governmental, and non-profit organization established in 2016, and licensed by Afghanistan’s Ministry of Economy under registration number 4912. HWPSDO aimed to address Afghanistan’s urgent needs in humanitarian aid, public services, health, and gender-based violence (GBV) prevention, while promoting livelihoods and education. Our core focus areas include human rights, mental health, women’s and children’s rights, sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) prevention, ending violence against women and girls (EVAWG), women’s empowerment, healthcare, and advocacy for gender equality to foster equal participation in society. With over 9 years of combined experience, HWPSDO’s team deeply understands Afghanistan’s socio-economic, cultural, and political landscape. Since its inception, HWPSDO has implemented various projects to support Afghanistan’s vulnerable populations, including women and girls, and has worked to improve access to justice, education, healthcare, vocational training, and economic opportunities. We have also focused on building the capacity of civil society organizations (CSOs) and implementing programs for community empowerment and humanitarian support. Our initiatives extend to mental health, livelihoods, water, food security, sanitation, nutrition, and hygiene (WASH), social cohesion, disaster management, community development, advocacy, skills training, legal aid, psychological cancelling and crisis response. Our Humanitarian Emergency Response is driven by a strong commitment to empowering Afghan women and addressing GBV to fostering positive change, promoting human rights, and empowering communities towards a brighter future for all in Afghanistan. HWPSDO is recognized as a leading civil society organization in Afghanistan’s western region, with active offices in Kabul, Herat, Ghor, and Farah. We also plan to expand to Bamiyan and Daikundi provinces, working tirelessly toward a safer, more inclusive future for Afghanistan.

We envision Afghanistan evolving into a peaceful and developed country where all individuals, including women and children, enjoy equal rights and access to basic needs, living free from discrimination and violence, in a society built on social justice and the promotion of human dignity.

Mission

To empower vulnerable communities in Afghanistan by promoting human and women’s rights, gender equity, and sustainable development. We provide humanitarian assistance, capacity building, and disaster risk reduction support while improving health, education, and peace, and strengthening the resilience of marginalized groups, including women, children, and families in need.
